Help Penny Raines Beat Ovarian Cancer

As many of you know, Penny Raines was diagnosed with stage 3B ovarian cancer in October. In the beginning, her doctor discovered some fluid and a mass in her abdomen during a routine checkup and referred her to an oncologist. After several tests and a PET scan the oncologist was still unable to tell exactly what was going on due to the fluid build up. The next step was an exploratory surgery where several tumors were found. A biopsy was done during the surgery and it was determined to be cancer so a full hysterectomy was performed. Once healed from the surgery, she was prescribed six rounds of chemotherapy. The final round will be on 3/15. She will then continue with preventative treatments and maintenance. Unfortunately, this is an aggressive type of cancer tends to come back. It will be treated as a chronic illness as she will have life long, regular tests including scans and blood work.

Penny has been really strong in her battle with this disease. She has already received much love and support from friends and family. Her insurance is helping cover a lot of the costs. However, since being diagnosed she hasn’t been able to work very much. Her immune system has been very fragile and she is at home resting in between infusions and doctor appointments. She is also traveling back and forth to MD Anderson in Jacksonville, FL for additional medical care from their team. Any help would be greatly appreciated to make this situation a little easier and less stressful so that she can beat this. All donations will go to help with medical bills and travel expenses.
