We’re asking for your help in seeking justice for Penny, a beautiful soul whose life was tragically taken because of someone else’s negligence. Penny didn’t deserve what happened to her — and her family and loved ones deserve answers, accountability, and peace.

This tragedy has left deep pain and unanswered questions. The person responsible made reckless choices — leaving children alone and creating a situation that led to a heartbreaking loss. Now, Penny’s family is left fighting not only their grief, but also for the truth and justice she deserves.

On behalf of the family, we are heartbroken to share the devastating and unexpected loss of Maureen “Penny” Pena.

Penny’s passing was so unexpected and it truly wasn’t her time. This disaster has left her loved ones shattered, struggling to process the pain of losing someone so special far too soon.

Penny was deeply loved — her smile, warmth, and energy touched so many lives. She was a mother, grandmother, family member, and friend who made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

This devastating tragedy has especially impacted her son, Marc, who lived with Penny. She was not only his mother, but also his roommate, his comfort, and his safe place. Marc is now facing the unimaginable pain of losing not only his mom, but also his home and the life they built together. This fundraiser will also help Marc rebuild, preserve his mother’s memory, and begin the long and painful process of healing.

Because this disaster happened so suddenly, the family is facing unexpected financial burdens — including funeral and memorial expenses, and efforts to restore.

We are asking for the community’s love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution — big or small — will help ease the weight on the family’s shoulders.
