On Weds eve, December 4th on my way home in Oakland I was in a head-on collision in my cute, little Mazda Miata and was lucky enough to walk away. Unfortunately, not entirely unscathed. Not only is my car completely totaled, but I have tissue damage in my neck and shoulders, a sprained thumb, wrist and hand and severe anxiety about being in a car again. I’ve been unable to run my business, work at my part-time day job or perform burlesque. I have honestly been having a very rough time.
I am looking to raise money to help cover my on-going medical expenses as I do not have health insurance. As I have been unable to work for the last 2 weeks and will only be able to work part-time for at least the next month, I fear losing clients and most of my income. I am in a wonderful loft space that I love and am able to run my business from, but like many Bay Area live/work warehouses, I am susceptible to eviction at short notice if I don’t stay on top of my rent. As nice as it has been to have friends deliver dinner, I’m very much looking forward to, with your help, being able to go grocery shopping again. You all know how much I love to bake and cook up a big meal! (You can still come over and do my dishes, that’s been great!)
Not only will your donation help me stay afloat, but anything above living expenses that I receive will go towards getting another (not quite so small) car. My small business depends on me being mobile and I’m afraid with the insurance hurdles so far, I will not be getting much help there. It is beginning to look like the other driver was not insured and even though I have been found to be 100% not at fault, my insurance payout cap for uninsured motorist is quite minimal.
