Penny Ellis Memorial Fund: Family Support

Hello my name is Amberly Samuel I’m the daughter of Penny Ellis from Girard, KS. May 28th about 6:30 my mom was rushed to Freeman West in Joplin MO for shortness of breath. They did a lung CT w/ contrast for possible lung blood clot. She was admitted to 6th floor w/ c pap. 2hours later I get a call she’s intubated, on the vent in ICU. Kidneys shut down from the contrast now she’s on dialysis. Blood work,CT,MRI, heart and Lumbar puncture ALL came back normal. Totally sedated no response. Every specialist on board with NO answer to what’s going on with her. Day 9 Dr says we have 3 days to pull vent and pray or trach,nursing home,feeding tube and 24hr care. Vent was pulled she was good one day and then down hill. Day 14 June 12th c pap on 65% and fighting for her life to breath. Dr said no hope, We decided to make her comfortable once kids and grandkids were together holding her hand by her bedside c pap taken off and within 10-15 minutes @ 11:22pm she took her last breath ready to go be with her sisters,mom and dad. My mom was such a great person and had a heart of gold and never let anyone go without. For 2 years now she’s been on 24hr O2 and couldn’t work per DR order. She was in the process of disability. She had NO life insurance. Which puts my brother and I in a situation to pay out of our pockets for a funeral/burial services.
