Pennies in Heaven Fundraiser for Murphy & Shemar

Donation protected
It’s been said that November is the saddest month. What an understatement that is.

Before I tell you more about that, I should introduce myself. Hello, I’m Sadie, a local in the community. Some of you know me from art classes, others from walking my husky, Storm. For those who know me well, you know my life has been a challenging one and that my fur babies are my world, my family. For some of you, this may be our first introduction. It’s lovely to meet you. Thank you for taking a moment to explore my fundraiser and learn more about why I am asking you, for a kindness – a donation.

On Oct 21, 2022, my youngest boy, Murphy became very sick. It was late at night and our only option was a 24hr hospital. He was admitted and diagnosed with Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), a life threatening illness. Though it was very touch and go, he eventually “levelled out”, and was finally able to return home Monday night. 6 days later, his brother, my oldest boy, Shemar, woke up unexpectedly very ill. On November 1, I rushed him to his doctor, praying it was a simple fix and we’d be on our way home. During that visit, we helped him cross the rainbow bridge, and I returned home with an empty carrier. Murphy, has only ever known life with Shemar, and those two were always, and I mean always, curled up with each other. Two peas in a pod. He was lost without his brother, looking everywhere for him. On Nov 23, the stress took a toll on his unstable health, and he joined his brother in heaven. In 22 days, I lost both my boys, half my family.

It’s been said that November is the saddest month. What an understatement that is.

If it weren’t for the generous and selfless kindness of my friends, I would not have had an extra 4 weeks with Murphy. I would not have been able to give Murphy and Shemar the emergency medical care they needed or helped them during their end of life. Without hesitation, these people stepped up and footed the bill. Something given my financial reality, I could not do.

I knew the reality of what I am capable of repaying and that far surpassed its limit before we even made it to the hospital in October. It was not as easy thing to ask these families for help, or to accept the continued help they offer in my life in other areas. I consider myself a hard worker, but this loan repayment is beyond my realistic means. Now, I am asking my community for help. I am asking for “Pennies in Heaven for Murphy and Shemar”. Any donation you can make will help repay the expenses these families generously ‘spotted’ me for. My gratitude and prayers are all I can offer in return, but please know your kindness will forever be cherished.
