Help Save Penny! Radiation for Brain Tumor
Our best friend, Penny was diagnosed with an inoperable pituitary macroadenoma brain tumor in November, and her life expectancy was only estimated to be about 2-4 months.
As pet parents, hearing this news was heartbreaking, especially since she's only 7 and deserves a long life ahead of her. We can't imagine what life would be like without her.
Penny hasn't had a seizure since she began palliative care after her diagnosis. However, steroids and anti-seizure medication will only help for so long.
After consulting with the veterinary radiologist, we were informed that Penny would be a great candidate for stereotactic radiation therapy. This will allow her the chance to reduce the size or possibly eradicate the brain tumor. Based on studies, our vet said the median survival time is two years (although we all hope Penny will live much longer).
Unfortunately, this type of treatment is costly and time-sensitive. Thankfully we were able to cover the initial costs of her diagnostics and treatment, which came to $6,500.
Penny’s radiation treatment will cost $8,000, so to offset the cost, we are accepting donations. With your support, we can pursue this treatment even sooner.
While asking for help is always difficult, we know Penny is loved and cared for by many people, and your support means so much to us.
For those of you who want to follow along with her journey, we're also setting up a TikTok! It’s PenniesForPenny.
Since there are very few resources available for this type of diagnosis and treatment, it is our goal to inform other pet parents and hopefully make a difference.
