Hi everyone, I’m Madilyn!

My husband and I help out on his grandparents’ farm, where they keep a small flock of sheep. That’s how a sweet little lamb named Penelope came into our lives — and why I’m reaching out for help today.

She’s five months old and was born here on the farm. Sadly, her mother rejected her shortly after birth, probably because her back legs didn’t work, and she was left unable to stand or walk. When we first found her, she was completely alone, and vultures had already started to circle nearby. From the start, we stepped in to care for her, bottle feeding her and giving her the love and support she needed.

With time and tenderness, she began to improve. She found her own wobbly way of walking, and her legs strengthened. But over the last few weeks, her condition has worsened. Now, her back legs barely work, and she can no longer get around alone.

We believe she may have a spinal cord injury that occurred during birth. Issues like this can sometimes happen with new mothers, especially during a difficult delivery. Despite everything, her spirit is still strong—she’s sweet, alert, and full of life.

We’re raising funds for a custom-made wheelchair to help her regain her independence and enjoy the best quality of life possible.

The wheelchair is about $530, but we’ve set the goal a little higher to help cover transaction fees so all of her care is fully covered. We are hoping to get something very similar to this rear wheelchair.

The sooner we can get it, the sooner she can start adapting and thriving again.
