Today, January 15, Penelope was seen at the vet for what I hoped was a simple case of mastitis. Unfortunately, the tests lean towards mammary cancer.

Given my experience with my late cat, Annie, this news is particularly difficult to process, but my priority right now is getting Penelope the care she needs.

​Penelope requires surgery within the next 30 days (to avoid spreading, and labs are needed within 30 days of surgery) to remove the affected mammary gland and an adjacent lump for biopsy. Because Penelope has a history of health challenges, this procedure requires extra caution.

​The Financial Breakdown:

​Today’s Diagnostics: $954 (currently placed on carecredit)

​Surgery Estimate: $1,210 – $1,631

​Total Goal: $2000

​I have set this fundraiser to cover the high end of the surgical estimate, plus some of the $954 carecredit bill for today.

Should the final cost be lower, all remaining funds will be applied toward her vet bill from today.
