Penelope is my 10 year-old bichon. She has some chronic health issues that have recently progressed to causing constant pain. The vet has described the situation as urgent so she requires surgery ASAP. We tried a less invasive medication option to try to dissolve bladder stones, but after four months, her bladder stones have continued to grow and are causing inflammation issues with her kidneys. She is now struggling with a major UTI and high threat of a stone being lodged in her urinary tract if not removed through surgery.
We are fortunate that her regular vet is able to fast track the surgery to next week, but due to the complexity and chronic issues including sensitivities to anesthetics, it will still be $3,000 plus medication costs if there are no complications.
Penny is an incredible dog who comes to work with me every day and loves greeting everyone with a smile. She is only 10 years old and bichons typically have a lifespan around 15 years, so this surgery will help her to live out the rest of her happy life.
