Hello! If you know me, you know I am the last person to ask for help. But you also know that my sweet Penelope girl is the light of my life. Penelope has cost me thousands of dollars in vet bills since I got her as a puppy. Most of the time it has been allergies/stubbed toes/eating a box of Milk Duds/more allergies, but this time it is Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease.
In April 2020, I went to a vet in Tampa when I suspected she had a torn ligament in her right knee. I had x-rays taken and her vet diagnosed her with Hip Dysplasia. He put her on injections and sent her on her way. I called multiple times the following months expressing that it seemed to be getting worse, but was told that it would "just take time" to see an improvement. Fast forward to November 2020 and three different vets later. He misdiagnosed her and she did have a right cruciate ligament tear. Since she spent so much time limping, Penelope now not only has a complete right ligament tear, but a partial tear on her left leg as well.
Penelope is currently in the process of preparing for two separate CBLO (Cora Based Leveling Osteotomy) surgeries. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her and lots of bed rest, however I know she wont be completely miserable as this girl loves her naps.
Moral of this financial story, 2020 has sucked for everyone. I would truly appreciate if we could make it suck a little less for Penelope.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
