This is for my beautiful 1 year(ish) old boy Zipper who needs his leg amputated.

 

Zipper was a stray dog in Lebanon who was found in a garbage in the mountains, someone had left him there to die. When he was found he had a stiff leg that wouldn't bend & was smaller than the rest. No one knew what happened to him though & at first the vets thought he was fine.

Once in Montreal, he got x-rays done. We went to see a specialist (Dr. Planté) who said Zipper endured some sort of traumatic event when he was very young that caused the lesions on his hip and knee & prevented his leg from growing further. His broken knee fused together while healing which is why he can't bend his leg & it affects his mobility & balance. The injury to his hip caused the hip bone and the socket to both be misshapen- because of this it turns out Zipper is in constant pain.

 

Dr. Planté said amputation is the only option for him and that the pain will get worse with time. Also, it may be the cause of some behavioral issues due to him being in constant pain.

 

If you've met Zipper you know he's a very friendly, happy, & relaxed guy (once he gets all his pets). 

I'd like to give this loving boy the chance he deserves.
