Amelia Pelusa (Spanish for Fluff) is a precious little white floof with a very serious problem. She was a “perfectly healthy” puppy. She could walk normally, run, and jump. All while living with her original family. It wasn’t until she turned two years old that she started limping, then dragging her right leg, and then very quickly she dragged both legs. She was seen at the Queen Mother Hospital for small animals by a neurologist and was diagnosed with Kyphosis (excessive outward curvature of the spine). She lost mobility of her back legs due to her malformed spine. Previous owners saw this as a non negotiable due to Amelia’s teeny size and condition. They neglected her and they wanted to euthanize her despite her not having other medical problems. They simply didn't want the responsibility of a challenged pet. They felt no one else would want her, either. I was looking after Amelia since the family got her, I knew she was special. I couldn't let her be euthanized, so I asked if I could have her. It has been a challenge but an amazing one, which we've had for the past year. She tries so hard to do everything. She’s a completely different doggie now. She’s gained so much confidence, put weight on, her posture is better. She’s figured out the adventure of peeing in a pad (with my help). She used to be extremely shy and untrusting, now she’s sassy and happy and terrorizing dogs at the park. Things are going really well for us. We feel she is ready to explore the world with some mini wheels from K9 Carts. She still needs healthcare for deferred issues like neutering, blood work and dental overhaul and extractions. We are estimating the fees to be around £1,763 GBP . Estimates attached on the pictures.

We welcome the day when she can wheel through the high grass (her favourite thing to smell). We’re sure that with a lot of love, patience and your help through our GFM, that we can give her the best quality of life possible. Every day she gives back priceless joy to us. “Though small she is mighty, capable and brave!” Thank you for taking the time to read our story & considering a donation to Amelia’s mobility.
