Darci Heil DeWulf

Darci Heil DeWulf is a woman of many talents. She's an organic gardener, a baker, a creator of beautiful beadwork art, remarkable songwriter, a fine singer and an extremely gifted multi-instrumentalist. She shares all these gifts freely with her community here in Madison County, NC and we're proud to call her our own. Her children, Marijke and Cade, are beautiful, competent, confident, caring and thoughtful teenagers. Darci said to me during a music session that bringing up her kids was the most important job she would ever have. She has excelled at her job and that's a fact. Trouble knocked on Darci's door late one night at the beginning of this week. The pain that had been coming and going had come to stay and was so intense, she drove herself to Mission Hospital. As the test results began to come in, it was obvious she had a big problem - a large mass  on an ovary that had high probability of being cancer. On Wednesday afternoon she was in surgery for over four hours and yes, it was cancer. Thankfully it was a kind of cancer that requires only surgical removal and if all the other tests come back negative as her doctor is 95% certain they will, she'll be cancer free. However, she's in for a fairly lengthy recovery period and as a strong and independent single mom, she's carrying a lot of fear and worry. We've decided that now is our opportunity to give back to this amazing woman who has given so much to so many. Please help us by making a donation on this page.
