Help! Peggy needs emergency amputation. :(

Donation protected
Hello friends! I'm Peggy. And I haven't had the best start to life, but this doesn't mean that life can't get sweeter from here on out! I'm approximately 12-weeks-old and my favorite things include: incessant purring, snuggles, staring dazingly into my "rescuers" eyes, and eating ALL of the things that you can offer me. -Peg! (Tentative name) ‍☠️

Friday 09/20 update @ 5pm. We are beyond grateful for all of you who have donated money for Peg. From the bottom of our hearts: Thank you.
We scheduled her surgery for Tuesday, 09/24 at a place we vetted out and believe will be a great fit for her. Depending on the severity, they may amputate just above the break or they may have to take the entire leg and amputate at her hip bone. They may also spay her while she's under anesthesia. We have lowered our target goal because the estimate we received is under what we originally anticipated and received quotes on. In the meantime, Peg is enjoying life inside and snuggles with a blanket, was introduced to her first toy, and is enjoying an opportunity to sleep. She has been incredibly friendly and loves attention. We are so grateful for all of you and your support. we will keep you posted!

Emily and Michele wonder if you can read my story. Save the tissues, this story is getting better every hour....

Michele was able to rescue this sweet baby kitten. On the night of September 17th, Michele noticed that there were kitten cries coming from out back. While she was trying to get Peg some food, Michele noticed a dire hind leg injury that the kitten was sporting. She went into immediate action, and we came up with a plan to try to rescue her. Within 24 hours & at 8:00 pm on September 18th, Peg was safely in a crate, and we were on our way to UrgentVet to get some immediate care and assessment.

The good news! : FIV [cat AIDS]/feline leukemia/heartworm/other initial tests were all negative and she was deemed a healthy fighter and ready for life! The vet assured me that this baby does not need to be euthanized and that she herself had several rescues that were found in similar circumstances.
The bad news: X-ray confirmed a very bad break just above the knee on her hind right leg with no trauma to her pelvis. All leg muscle is already atrophying, and the vets guess was that she was hit by a car over three weeks ago.

So begins the second leg to Pegs journey... (Not being punny)

The vet at UrgentVet advised that she likely needs an amputation. We have 2 separate appointments tomorrow, September 20th, to have consults and get estimates going forward with a possible amputation. She has pain meds and antibiotics going around the clock currently and is not showing signs of discomfort or pain. A testament to her resilience. She is safe in a home with ample love, food, and cuddles. She is done with the first stage of her battle for life and happened to find the purrfect house to ask for help from! She is ready to start her ongoing battles but needs help and support.

If you have a huge heart and might be able to make donations this would be incredible. Anything will help. Bills so far after night one are $800 just for her initial urgent care visit (the itemized bill is attached as a picture). We imagine that an amputation surgery is going to be HEFTY but will update you after her appointments tomorrow!

Humane society, Polk SPCA, and Tampa Bay SPCA were unable to help out or ever give suggestions. About 10 other calls around Lakeland, Brandon, Tampa, and St. Pete did not find any other helpful leads so we're heavily hoping that Pegs 2 vet consults tomorrow will give us a better picture of her medical treatment going forward and how costly it may be.

WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED AS THINGS PROGRESS and genuinely appreciate your attention and any help that you may be able to offer.

Please hit share on this to get the word out.

There is a potential adopter that we will give updates on as they progress or if something with these circumstances change.

For now, please check out some of pictures and videos of sweet Peg ❤️❤️
Cuddling and loving.
