Peggy's Battle: Cancer and Renal Challenges

Donation protected

Hi, I'm Robert Kolarick. The reason for raising funds for my wife is due to the fact that she has been diagnosed with cancer. She was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2023. Unfortunately, I'm told it is a rare type of cancer. I've also recently been told that her kidney function is now at stage 4 chronic renal insufficiency. I'm going to provide as much detail as I can regarding her illness in this story.

Peggy has been under the care of Dr. Ning at Florida Cancer Specialists in downtown Sarasota since 2023. She has been receiving chemo treatments as well as iron and/or blood transfusions as needed on a weekly basis. Peggy is under care for a history of multiple myeloma. In addition to the multiple myeloma diagnosis, She has to deal with chronic renal insufficiency, which has been closely monitored by nephrology. Her doctor closely monitors her situation to make sure the insufficiency does not get worse, which is common with patients with multiple myeloma and can result in dialysis.

In addition, I'm told that her electrolytes are monitored because they can fluctuate due to renal insufficiency and can affect her heart, her muscles, and her brain if they get out of balance. Peggy is also on medication to help improve her immune system; this requires an additional monthly infusion. Peggy's immune system is lowered due to my diseases as well as the medications that are being used to treat her. She also requires prophylactic antibiotics to help prevent her from getting common infections since her immune system is compromised.

Through the course of Peggi treatment, she has been hospitalized several times, which has been very stressful on her emotionally and physically. This also causes anxiety, increased fatigue, and decreased appetite. It's important Peggy tries to maintain adequate caloric intake to ensure that the outcomes of treatment and inevitably her prognosis and life expectancy continue to be successful.

In addition, we also travel to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, for a cancer as well as a kidney specialist for testing and diagnosis on how to move forward with her treatments. So with all this going on, Peggy's stress level as well as my own at this point in time keeps going up as we are trying to pay our medical bills as well as household bills and necessities. Even though we have health insurance, it only covers the bare minimum. Peggy has worked as long as she could, and at this point in time, her cancer doctor has put her on full FMLA. This too cuts into our financial ability to make ends meet.

My wife, Peggy and I are very grateful for any and all donations given that can help us. I would like to thank you for your generosity, help, and support in advance.

Sincerely, Robert Kolarick.
