Wednesday, January 25th we were on a walk with our sweet pup Peggy, when suddenly two big dogs off their leashes attacked her on the street just four houses down from our home. They caused crushing damage to her spine, and left multiple gaping wounds and some puncture wounds. Skin and muscle were removed, and her abdominal wall was punctured. She had to go under for surgery but luckily her organs were not damaged and Peggy is now stable at home. She has staples on her belly and several other sutures. For two weeks, she has to have fluids drained every 4 hours and wear an Elizabethan collar. Richard suffered some minor injuries from wrestling the dogs off Peggy. It was pretty traumatic for all of us. Peggy already had been attacked by a random loose dog last year, but this time was a pit bull and another much larger dog.
We have made a report with animal control and will contact the owner about our medical bills. Even if they can somehow pay the full amount, we still need to raise funds because (surprise) WE'RE HAVING A BABY (due in one month). Yeah, we were almost ready to announce it on social media and raise money for that; then this all happened. Regardless to say we have a lot of expenses related to the baby, we had some issues with our vehicle we have to fix, yada yada. We're both measly teachers of the arts, and AmyLou is going to be taking a break to be with Baby for a while cutting our income in half.
Our goal amount is just Peggy’s hospital bill, plus another $200 for some medicine and supplies we needed. There will be more vet visits and things we haven't calculated. ANY amount that you can give would help us and means so much to our family at this particular time.
love,
Richard, AmyLou, Peggy, and Baby Bogen
