Support Peggy to get heart treatment

Donation protected
Peggy came into our lives under extraordinary circumstances. She lost a foot immediately after birth, but that hasn’t slowed her down one bit—she’s full of life, curiosity, and love.

When I took Peggy in, I fully considered the challenges and potential costs of giving her a chance at life with three legs. I was prepared to support her through whatever she needed for her limb.

But at her first health check, we received unexpected news: Peggy is highly suspected to have Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a congenital heart condition. PDA is treatable, but the timing couldn’t be worse for us financially. I was not prepared for this expense right now.

Even so, Peggy came to me for a chance at life, and I feel I cannot let her down. I want to give her the best chance at survival and a happy, healthy future.

Any support, big or small, will go directly toward Peggy’s heart surgery and associated care. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign to help spread her story means the world.

Thank you for helping us give Peggy the life she deserves.
……….

Our initial referral indicated that the required echocardiogram would cost £1000 with an estimated £4100 if she needed subsequent surgery.

having trawled the internet and looked at options all over the country there is a chance she could be referred for assessment at a cost of £419 with the surgery if it’s needed costing £2100.

This is already a significant saving and much more affordable and realistic but I just don’t have this money right now which is why I’m asking for your help

About PDA in Puppies

Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart defect that occurs when a blood vessel called the ductus arteriosus, which normally closes shortly after birth, stays open. This can cause blood to flow abnormally between the aorta and the pulmonary artery, putting extra strain on the heart and lungs.

Key points:
• Symptoms: Some puppies show no symptoms at first. Signs can include a heart murmur, coughing, difficulty exercising, poor growth, or lethargy.
• Diagnosis: Usually through echocardiogram (heart ultrasound).
• Treatment: Surgery or a minimally invasive procedure called device closure. Both are highly effective when done early.
• Prognosis: Excellent if treated promptly. Untreated PDA can lead to heart failure.

Since Peggy is otherwise happy and active, early intervention could give her a normal, joyful life.
