Peggy Neighbors Award

Dear All,

In light of the recent news of Peggy Neighbors passing, I know many of us have thought about what we could do for Clayton. I myself went through the “Do I send flowers? Meals? Cards? Etc.” and ultimately decided that I wanted to see if I could do something more.

With your help, I’d like to set up a travel/research award for psychology doctoral students at the University of Houston named “The Peggy Neighbors Award”. This would be an award that students could apply for to use for travel or to fund data collection for their dissertation. This effort has been approved by the chair of the psychology department and he is working to set up the an account to receive the funds within the department.

Throughout his career Clayton has impacted so many of us in profoundly positive ways. For many, he is among the first calls we make when something needs to be talked through. In my career, I’ve met few people that come close to being as good as Clayton. He represents what it means to be one of the best on the academy. Through this award and with the help of those like you who will make it possible, I hope to honor Peggy, the woman we know helped make him the Clayton we all adore.

If you feel this is something you would like to contribute to, please donate any amount you’d like. I’ll also ask that you either note your name or send me an email once you’ve donated so I can include your name in the card. Once we have concluded raising the funds, I will send a card to Clayton signing the names of all those who contributed and let him know let we’ve created the award in Peggy’s name.
