Peggie Keim's desire for physical independence
Donation protected
Hi, My Name is Mary Keim, and I am letting everyone know that I have set up a Go Fund Account for my sister Margaret (Peggie) Keim. My reason for
doing this is to help her regain as much physical independence as possible. In September, 2020 Peggie had her left leg amputated below the knee - she fought back from that even through having COVID and was able after some time living at my house, go back to live in her own home, drive and be fairly independent. In January 2022 - Peggie had to have her right leg amputated below the knee as well. This battle has proved to be much more challenging both physically and financially. She was in the hospital twice and two different nursing facilities before being able to come live with me again in April. Peggie desires very much so to be able to go back to her home. This involves purchasing an electric scooter, having a ramp put on her house, having her car adapted so she can drive with hand controls and installing a stair lift (which a family member may be able to donate to her). Peggie also had to switch her medical insurance in June, which has resulted in higher co-pays for medical care, physical therapy sessions and prescriptions.
Peggie has worked hard all her adult life, working as a nurse in a hospital, nursing facility and an insurance company for over a period of 40 years. She has always taken care of herself, but she could use some support right now. Peggie is not comfortasble with asking for assistance - but as her sister who loves her with all my heart - I am proud to ask for her!
Please know she does not "EXPECT" anything from anybody - she would never wnat anyone to feel "OBLIGATED" - If you can help her that is wonderful and if not - we understand.
Thank you all for your consideration in this matter and know that she apprecaites all who support her.
Thank you!
