Hi, I’m Ryan, a mentor to many of the pedicab operators, including the one who likely took you on a tour and gave you this card linking to our GoFundMe project.
These are my close friends, and I’m thrilled to have them on board with this endeavor. I’ve been in the pedicab industry for nineteen seasons, and it has shaped me into the person I am today, which is a long way from perfect, but proudly giving life my best shot, even through the turbulent time we've all faced. Over the years, we have had the privilege of bringing joy and happiness to countless people and families by showing them our wonderful city in the short time they have here, including people like yourself. It’s not just about pedicabbing; it’s about providing a healthy, life-enriching experience.
The Vision:
Recently, we were presented with an unexpected opportunity to transform our community in a meaningful way. The city reissued six pedicab licenses, and on a whim, I entered the lottery. To my surprise and delight, I won all six licenses! Now, we’re on a mission to raise $43600 to purchase six top-quality pedicabs. Each pedicab costs about $5000 to $6000, and we also need funds for a shipping container and various startup costs. The capital we would have utilized was substantially depleted due to Covid, so this isn’t just about starting a business; it’s about creating a lasting positive impact.
Our Commitment:
1. Donating Bikes to Kids: Every month, we’ll donate two bikes to children in need across North America. Families can submit their stories through social media, and we’ll work with local bike shops to deliver these bikes as needed, new and used.
2. Community Engagement: Every month, we will provide free pedicab tours to groups from nursing homes, hospices, group homes, and anyone that may not get to experience the fun of a Pedicab tour. This is our way of sharing joy and adventure with those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.
3. Employment Opportunities: This venture will create jobs for five individuals in our community, providing stable employment, contributing to, and being a part of this ongoing venture.
4. Transparency and Engagement: We will maintain full and complete transparency through social media, providing regular video updates and a documentary of the process, showcasing the lives affected by this initiative. As well as building an international following for this unique endeavour.
Why This Matters:
We’re reaching out to people like you, who have experienced the excitement and fun of a pedicab ride. By helping out, you’re not just supporting me; you’re supporting a whole network of people dedicated to making a positive impact. Yes, I’m looking for capital to start a business, and this might seem like an odd way of doing it, (i understand), but I am committed to a business model that helps the community. Your support helps establish the business and provides jobs for operators who could have been your driver. (Assuming you had fun!, lol )
We will also support various charities and helpful organizations, by offering advertising space on our pedicabs at zero cost. All while documenting every step of the way
Recognition for Donors:
We believe in honoring those who support us. Here’s how we plan to recognize your contributions:
• $10 to $1,000 donation: Your name or message will be permanently painted on our pedicabs, with the size increasing based on the donation amount.
• $5,000 donation: Your name will be permanently displayed on our pedicabs, and we will donate a bike a month for six months of our active season, for the first five years of operations, to a community of your choice.
• $10,000 donation: Your cause, name, or chosen message will be prominently displayed in large font or imagery on a pedicab, permanently. Additionally, we will donate two bikes a month for six months of our active season, for the first five years of operations, to a community of your choice.
Every day, customers tell us that their pedicab tour was one of the highlights of their trip. This feedback, verifiable through our TripAdvisor and Google reviews, makes me proud of the work we do. I love what I do, and I’m excited to expand my efforts to build a successful small business and help our community and beyond in an even bigger way.
Thank you so much for your attention, and we're glad you are even considering our longshot idea!
