Pediatric Resident Food and Support Fund
Tax deductible
Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you for taking the time to support us.
Since March, SUNY Downstate has been designated as a COVID-19 only center and our residents, fellows, faculty, and staff have been redeployed as front-line healthcare providers during this epidemic. Our housestaff have undoubtedly stepped up to the challenge in this unprecedented time, demonstrating their courage, dedication, and resolve to help patients in need.
Many residents are busy working long shifts, some overnight and others for 24 hours, leaving them exhausted with little time for themselves. We are organizing food donations as well as delivery of meals to the hospital. As we fight the war against COVID-19, we are asking for donations for meals, as well as funding for travel to work via Uber or Lyft and supplies that are urgently needed.
A list of supplies that we are trying to purchase include toiletries, food orders delivered to the hospital, snacks, drinks, supplies etc. We will be stocking the on-call rooms and respite areas at Downstate with these items so our residents will be well taken care of and be ready to take care of their patients.
If you would rather donate supplies, a wish list has been created for the items in need: https://www.myregistry.com/organization/covid19-medical-workers-support-brooklyn-new-york/2350508
Any amount or item donated will assist us in helping our patients. We thank you for your support. Please feel free to reach out to Vivian Chin at [email redacted], or to the pediatric chief residents at [email redacted].
Sincerely,
Pediatric Chief Residents (Drs. Gurpreet Kaur, Melanie Cheng, Benjamin Steinman, Whitney Morgan)
and Pediatric Residency Program Leadership (Drs. Christina Guillen, Amy Suss, Lawrence Fordjour, Vivian Chin)
