Borough of Beards 2022 (Pt. 2 of 2, December)

Borough of Beards is an annual, multi-month fundraising campaign sponsored by multiple agencies and their communities.

For 2022, Borough of Beards will be benefiting two charities. Month #1, November, will be benefiting “Rare is Beautiful”. Month #2, December, will be benefiting the" Lilabean Foundation" in honor of Kasey Zachmann.

Members of numerous surrounding PBAs will be growing their beards to honor Kasey Zachmann, the seven-year-old niece of Waldwick Police Officer Thomas Zachmann. Kasey is battling medulloblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer often found in children. Kasey had surgery for a cancerous brain tumor removed approximately 1.5 years ago. She then underwent several months of intense chemo and radiation treatment over an eight-month period. Unfortunately, the cancer quickly returned, and she is currently enrolled in a clinical trial treatment program in NYC, as treatment options are limited due to a lack of funding for research.

All money raised will be donated to The Lilabean Foundation to increase pediatric brain cancer research funding and to increase hope. Please consider donating in the hope we can one day find a cure for this horrible disease in honor of Kasey.
