Pedalling for a Purpose: Purley Masjid Euro Ride

Assalamualaykum brothers, sisters, youth and children,  We are excited to announce a unique and inspiring fundraising campaign to raise funds for a new masjid in our Purley community, 'Purley Masjid'.  A group of 10 dedicated brothers are be embarking on an awe-inspiring (approx. 200 miles) cycling journey across Europe. From the 1st of June to 4th June 23 we will be traversing through four countries - the UK, France, Belgium, and Holland - as we pedal our way through breathtaking landscapes and historic landmarks including European masjids to help promote our cause. With unwavering determination and camaraderie, we (us) brothers are determined to make a difference by combining our love for cycling with our passion to build Purley masjid. Our adventure promises to be a remarkable and impactful feat, leaving a lasting impression on those we meet along the way. InshaAllah. This incredible effort is aimed at not only promoting physical fitness but also raising much-needed funds for our beloved Purley Masjid.  As believers, we are reminded in the Quran, "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing" (Quran 2:261). This beautiful verse emphasizes that charity does not decrease wealth, but rather, it is a means of increasing blessings and rewards from Allah (SWT). The benefits of having a mosque in our community are countless. It serves as a spiritual sanctuary where Muslims can come together to worship, seek knowledge, and foster a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. It provides a safe space for our children to learn about their faith and connect with their identity. It also serves as a hub for various community activities, including social services, outreach programs, and interfaith initiatives, promoting unity and cohesion.  However, building a masjid requires significant financial resources, and we cannot achieve this goal without the support of our generous community members. We humbly request your kind donations to help us raise the necessary funds for our new masjid. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference and will be greatly appreciated. Our brothers' cycling journey is a symbolic representation of our community's determination to go the extra mile to fulfil this noble cause.
