Pebbles’ Polyp Surgery

Donation protected
If you’ve ever fostered, you know your foster babies have a place in your heart forever, and you’ll do anything to help them - even after they leave your care.

I had the joy of fostering sweet, spunky Pebbles before he connected with a fantastic family, and they eagerly adopted him. He was thriving in their family with his new kitty brother, Otis, and his favorite human brother, Andrew. Last Thursday, August 4, Pebbles went in for his neuter. The procedure went great, with no complications or concerns.

As I was returning home from a long-distance kitten adoption (Cornbread, if you follow Phoebe the CH kitty on TikTok), I got a call from Pebbles’ mom, concerned about his behavior. Immediately, I was worried he might be having a rare reaction to the anesthesia from his neuter. I recommended he go to the emergency vet, and I met his mom there. Pebbles received prompt attention, and we didn’t have to wait very long to find out the great news - that Pebbles would be okay! He has a vestibular disease (like vertigo in people) and Horner’s syndrome (affecting his eye) brought on by an inner ear polyp, which he needs surgery to correct. Once the polyp is removed, all his symptoms should resolve, though his head tilt may be permanent - and just become part of his charm.

Pebbles’ family is committed to doing whatever it takes to have him back in good health, but we should lean on one another in times of crisis. Pebbles' procedure is estimated to cost between $4000 and $6000, not including the emergency care he’s already had. He’s scheduled for a consult with a specialty surgeon next Wednesday, August 17, and should be able to have his procedure soon after.

Let’s rally around Pebbles and get him back on solid ground!
