Pearl Wells

My mother Pearl Wells was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis cancer in 2019. After seeking medical help she was admitted into the hospital due to having many  blood clot's through out her body, fluids were building into her lungs and abdomen and she had multiple tumors between her lungs, abdomen and uterus. Unfortunately  the hospitalizations kept occurring due to the cancer growing at a rapid pace and causing major issues throughout her body. She had a blood clot that busted in her leg and got stuck between her heart and lungs which caused major airway issues and she was hospitalized. At that time it wasn't even the cancer the doctors were concerned about it was heart failure due to the blood clots.   After discussing the game plan with her oncologist they gave my mom a total of 1 year to live and no doctor wanted to do the tumor removal due to it being so large at the time and us catching the cancer so late. We completed 6 rounds of chemo and 5 rounds of radiation which had caused the tumor to shrink in size!! The doctors were very shocked at how well her body took to chemo and radiation. After the treatment plan her doctor had in mind was completed and the tumors shrunk we found an OBGYN that was able to give her a full hysterectomy in May 2020. He removed all of her tumors, removed a piece of her lung that has tumor on it and sent many particles to the lab to get tested for cancerous cells. Everything looked really good and came back negative. The recovery processes was rough due to pearl then getting cellulite's in both legs and having neuropathy from chemo but other then that my mother finally gained hope; was so happy and started to get back to her normal life after recovery. We are now 4 months post op and Pearl had to go back to the hospital due to a bad cough and having a hard time breathing. After doing scans we have found out the fluid has returned in her lungs and the doctors were able to drain another 2 liters. We are now awaiting for her scans to get reviewed by the oncologist team to see if the cancer has returned and what is causing the fluids to build in her body again. As many of you could have imagine it has been an emotional roller coaster for her an our family. I couldn't imagine having to personally go through anything like this, maintain her household/family and and try to live a normal life. My mother has accumulated $25,000.00 in doctors bills which has stressed her out to the max. Instead of recovering and taking care of her health she has been fighting to get her medical bills paid. My mother has Medicare and is ineligible to receive state assistance.  We have contacted social services on many occasions to figure out how to get help and we are told there's nothing else she can do. The hospital her doctor works out of will not provided financial help due to her zip code being outside of the charity lines (which is insane!) She retired in July of 2019 and only has an SSI check for income which doesn't even cover day to day expenses.  My mother has never been the person to ask for help nor told people her problems but at this point the doctors are stating we will have to start chemo back again which now has caused more stress on her due to the first round of medical bills not being paid.  As her daughter I am trying to due everything in my power to make things less stressful for her to heal properly.  We are asking if you are able to help to please donate but foremost please keep my mother in your prayers if anything. She was very blessed to get over the first hump from cancer and she will do it again. We appreciate everyone that is able to help and are so fortunate that you are in our lives.

God Bless you all
Sincerely
The Wells Family
