Pearl Beach NSW is a sleepy seaside village where things generally don't go badly wrong. But in recent weeks the village has been subjected to a sickening campaign by an unknown individual who has scattered poisonous baits in public areas, one of which was eaten by Minnie while she was out for a walk with her mum. She nearly died, and most certainly would have, had she not received immediate very expensive veterinary care. Her treatment will be ongoing for some time.
Fortunately it seems she may have been the only dog who has suffered, but the impact on her and her owner has been enormous.
The Pearl Beach Community wants to help with the cost of her treatment so we've started this gofundme page. All contributions will go towards the vet bills.
** For those who are concerned, locals have conducted extensive searches for remaining baits and police are investigating.
Here is one pet owner’s story (& whilst she is incredibly touched & grateful, she was not the person who had the idea or set this page up!).
The photo is of Minnie my dog. She is my world.
Minnie was admitted to the Animal Referral Hospital at West Gosford last Friday after having ingested dog bait rat poison. She required a plasma transfusion and supportive intravenous and intensive care monitoring.
It has been three very long sleepless, stressful and heartbreakingly sad nights.
But I’m please to say she is back home now. To say I’m relieved is an understatement and beyond belief.
It is still a long road ahead over the next three weeks with medications, rest and recovery and a number of follow up vet hospital checks.
Thank you all for your care and support. It’s nice to know there are many good people out there. And that kindness out-ways cruelty.
Fingers crossed it remains good news story for us all.
Hug your fellow fury friends x
