Pearl and her girls
Donation protected
Hello, I am Scott Olson and I have known this trio for 10 years. On September 21st Pearl was taken via ambulance/life flight to KU Medical Center because of a brain bleed. An EVD drain was used to relieve pressure on the brain. On Monday October 2nd Pearl had another bleed from the AVM in her head. It was also discovered that the EVD drain had stopped working. The drain was replaced and the process was started over. After over three weeks of being in the ICU the drain was removed on Saturday. She is being relocated to the University of Kansas Health System Acute Impatient Rehabilitation Center which is a huge step forward. Here she will work on gaining strength, and relearning the daily routine of taking care of herself. We are hopefully getting closer to at least getting Pearl home until there is a plan in place to prevent any future brain bleeding. The tentative plan is to use radiation treatment to shrink/encase the AVM. There is still no timetable for this and we also don’t know what restrictions Pearl will have. Her business Highway 9 Pizza and Grill in Frankfort, KS has been closed since September 21st. This situation is very unique in that her daughters also work at Highway 9. The girls are both in college and dealing with a large majority of taking care of their mom as she recovers. Pearl continues to make progress, but we are still a long ways from the finish line. The goal of this fundraiser is to help with the normal expenses plus the additional expenses that occur with these situations. I would like to see all three of them not have to worry about anything except getting Pearl better. Appreciate any help you can give.
