Hi friends!

When we rescued Peanut six years ago, we knew of his epilepsy caused by a congenital disability in his brain. We also knew he would need special care and medications for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, his seizures started ramping up in frequency a couple of years ago. We discovered in January of 2022 that he also has GI disease and couldn’t correctly process his medications.

Luckily his fantastic medical team put him on steroids, and he was almost instantly back to his happy, hungry, and carefree puggy self.

The downside of the steroid is that it compromises his immune system and makes everything a little weaker. Around March of 2022, Peanut dislocated his femur and needed surgery and physical therapy to return to his rambunctious self. The steroids slowed down the healing process, and two weeks ago, he developed an eye injury that needed emergency surgery.

While his emergency eye surgery went well, Peanut had trouble with the anesthesia and is now in the Emergency Room receiving oxygen for pneumonia.

If you know us, you know that we love making people laugh through our antics and that we love our rescues more than life itself. We would do anything for them, including immediately agreeing to all medical procedures that help our fur babies. This time, Peanut has managed to rack up an ongoing collective vet bill of over $20k, and we are still wrapping our minds over it. This amount doesn't include the cost of his standard medications or recent surgeries for our other rescues.
