Peaks, Parks & Purpose: My Charity Trek Across the UK
Donation protected
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED
Walking 300 miles across the UK's 15 National Parks in the month of August? Wild camping? Ending the 30 days by climbing Ben Nevis (the highest bloody mountain in the UK!)
I'm going to be heading off on August 1st, for 30 nights of walking, camping and climbing with nothing but my car, tent and my very naughty sidekick. I'm going to cover 300 miles of walking, across all 15 National Parks in the UK and then end the 30 days by doing the big old climb up Ben Nevis in Scotland.
Why? To raise money for two amazing charities!
The first is @horatiosgarden at Salisbury Spinal Unit, the place that my Mum spent nearly 4 months, after an emergency spinal surgery that left her paralysed. The garden provides a safe and nurturing place to support patients. Spinal cord injuries are traumatic events and the gardens are vital places for reflection and adjustment for people facing these life-changing injuries and long stays in hospital, which Mum and our family can definitely attest to.
And then of course, the incredible @eveappeal, a Gynaecological Cancer Charity. There are five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal. Each year in the UK, around 22,050 women and people with gynae organs are diagnosed with one of these cancers. This means 60 people receive this life-changing news each day!
If you'd like to donate and support these amazing charities, then me and my little trotters would be eternally grateful. Every pound really does count
I'll round this off by saying, there's only one of us in the photo that's ready for this challenge and I can promise that it's not me. But I'm so looking forward to being dragged through every mountainous mile that we face, floaty dresses on and walking boots ready to clock in some miles.
You can keep up to date with the 'big trip' on my instagram @moggiemoo and I've even popped myself on the old TikTok @kaileeandklaus - where there'll no doubt be some awfully edited videos of me scouting out exactly how many National Parks have ice cream trucks in their car parks...
