Dearest community,
Writing to you own behalf of my sweet sister Cierra Dunn. It was recently discovered that her mother Tina Dunn is terminally ill & has a matter of days to live. This circumstance has come about suddenly and unexpectedly, requiring Tina to be given end of life care upon her discharge of being in the hospital only 72hrs ago. This news has left Tina’s family feeling deeply shocked and ridden with grief and the utmost desire to offer her the most peaceful, love-filled transition possible.
This GoFundMe represents a tangible way to financially support Tina’s children, especially Cierra, through this bereavement process. She is self-employed as a gifted bodyworker & birth worker. She has recently missed a financially significant live-in postpartum care opportunity in order to be here and tend to her mother — as both a daughter & a death doula – in her final days.
Sharing this link and any amount of donation makes it possible for her to:
- Carry out Tina’s final wishes for her cremation, burial, and remembrance rituals
- Be reimbursed for the costs accrued along this way
- Have room to decompress and grieve her mother’s death
Tina is declining gently and peacefully. Anyone who has truly known her knows this is a reflection of her essence, a soul as gentle & peaceful as they come. Tina is surrounded by her son Mike, Cierra, and their partners. Since the transfer from the hospital to her son’s home, she’s spent her days gazing out the door wall to hummingbirds at the feeders, a beautiful array of wildflowers and wide open field that overlooks a pond filled with geese. She’s enjoyed visits from her 3 sisters and cousin who have traveled from all over the country to say fare well.
The day after the hospital transfer she sat in her room and cried tears of joy, feeling so loved and sharing with us that it was the happiest day of her life. She’s expressed gratitude for the best sleep she’s had in months, the songs we’ve been singing, and to be cared and supported at her bedside by her family rather than hired help.
To be spending quality time with her and usher her across the threshold of her death so lovingly is the ultimate gift for her children and her family. So many wonderful people in Tina’s life & in her family’s own communities have expressed wishes of peace, love, and gratitude in this process which have all been so gratefully received. To be a witness & participate in the end of life care for Tina has been a true honor as we all recognize what a rarity it is in this day & age that we have the chance to be involved as intimately as we are in her care and her transition.
It’s with gratitude & humility that we ask you to please share this message even if you aren’t able to contribute financially at this time. We ask for prayers & love for Tina, whether it’s lighting a candle for her, singing a song, or filling up a bird feeder while you think of her.
