Conference in Mongolia: ‘Peace in Northeast Asia’
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
My name is Suyeon, and I’m currently working as a Community Programming Coordinator and Refugee Settlement Worker at Romero House in Toronto, Canada. My experience living and working alongside refugees has taught me the transformative power of small acts of kindness.
Since 2018, I have been dedicated to peacebuilding work. Earlier this year, I was honored to be invited as a Steering Committee Member at the Northeast Asia Regional Peacebuilding Institute (NARPI), where I have been working at the office in South Korea and mostly remotely since 2019. I am super excited to be part of the team organizing the 2023 Summer Peacebuilding Training in Mongolia this August. I can't wait for this incredible opportunity for peacebuilders to come together in person after three years of online gatherings! I believe that one small action can have a ripple effect, and I hope to make a positive impact in creating a welcoming community for refugees in Northeast Asia and beyond by sharing my story and seeding hope.
During the program, I'll have the opportunity to share my experiences at Romero House, highlighting the spirit of good neighbours through our interactions with refugees. Moreover, I'll actively engage in a three-day field trip where participants explore historical, cultural, and current peace-related sites, provide assistance to the peacebuilding course participants, and make valuable contributions to the Steering Committee meeting.
However, the cost of airfare from Toronto to Ulaanbaatar is not cheap. The cheapest flights available are around $2,400, which is beyond my financial means given that I receive a modest living allowance - That's why I'm kindly asking for your help in making this opportunity a reality. Any donation or contribution, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all so much for considering. Your support means the world to me, and I will use the funds to make the most meaningful impact possible!
