Our beloved Haiti has experienced yet another tragedy this year- a 7.2 earthquake that resulted in more than 2,000 lives lost and countless people injured and displaced. This is a beautiful country still reeling from the President's assassination, years of civil unrest, and the legacy of the horrific 2010 earthquake. If you know the Simonsen family, you know that Stanley (13) survived that 2010 earthquake and we are forever connected to his first island home. The 2021 earthquake's epicenter was in Stanley's hometown.

In a forgotten slum community in Port-au-Prince, sits an oasis for the kids who have grown up with these compounded traumas. By promoting "peace through soccer," they bring together kids from would-be rival gang communities to learn teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution skills. They have expanded to include academics (with a computer center and library) and the kids have cultivated the largest urban garden in the country. In the immortal words of Danny Rojas (from Ted Lasso- wait, you aren't watching this? Do it now!)- "Soccer is Life!" For some of these kids, that is 100% true.

Stanley and his brother Dane know how lucky they are to be safe and healthy and want to help make sure other kids have that chance. Now, more than ever, these kids need our support. Your donations will go directly to purchasing needed food and medical supplies and keeping the programs running during this tumultuous time.
