Dear Friends and Family of Tamara Hamilton,
It has been an unimaginable past couple of years for Tamara and her family. In 2020, Tamara was diagnosed with a rare form of colon cancer in her early 40s. She has been undergoing several different surgeries, aggressive forms of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. As you can imagine, Tamara was celebrating and feeling so positive about life because she has a bucket list of things she still wants to do! She wants to “spend time traveling with the love of her life; watch her son grow up to be an amazing husband and father; see what retirement is all about; move out of New York and get down south somewhere and enjoy life. All the Good Stuff!"
Sadly, on January 18, 2023, the difficult decision was made that after fighting so bravely, quietly, with dignity and unbelievable optimism, Tamara will be moved into Hospice Care. On behalf of Tamara, the PS 18 School Community is asking for all their friends and family to help prepare to transition for what will be an extremely long and difficult road ahead. Tamara has always been an excellent provider for her family, working extremely hard as an NYPD DOE School Safety Agent and putting the needs of her family first. As you can imagine, three years without her income, compounded by medical expenses has been financially devastating.
Tamara is an amazing mom, sister, daughter, school safety agent and friend! Tamara is at peace entering hospice, however, she isn’t at peace leaving behind her 22-year-old son, Mustafa. Tamara’s mom and sisters are doing the best they can to work, and take care of everything at home, and for Tamara’s only son, it is a lot to take on alone. That is why we have started this GoFundMe! This is to help Tamara be at peace knowing that everything is taken care of! She doesn’t want to leave any burdens for anyone, and if we can help with that we will! Tamara is such an amazing person and she deserves us to rally around her with love, support, and prayers! If you are so inclined to help financially, she and her family would be so grateful! If you cannot help financially, please send your prayers for her and her family, and share this so that we can send Tamara home with peace, love, and hope!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We hope that the PS 18 School Community, family and friends can help at the very least, lessen the financial worries when there is so much else to focus on. We want Mustafa to be able to focus his full attention on being with Tamara - and for Tamara to have a measure of comfort knowing her family is being cared for.
Your donations are beyond appreciated along with your prayers for this incredible woman we all are blessed to know, her beloved son, Mustafa, and adored sisters.
