Hi. We are Gary’s family. We need help to care for Gary as we prepare him for his final fight with brain cancer.
This has been a fast and crazy 16 months. Currently, Gary needs 24-hour in-home care which has become a huge financial burden for our family. Hospice provides specific supplies but all other costs are on us. Donations and support from our community will allow us to be able to keep Gary comfortable, fund 24-hour care, provide food and supplies, pay unpaid bills, and contribute to funeral expenses.
This is our story. Gary’s story.
Hi, I'm Alexandria, one of Gary's daughters. I am here to tell why we need you and how you can help our dad.
The villain in this story is a stage 4 glioblastoma (GBM). We are losing our dad, brother, friend, our Gary, to a malignant and fast-growing brain tumor.
Nov 6th, 2017, I sat beside him as he was told he did indeed have a brain tumor. And it’s been a whirlwind ever since. My brother Grant was deployed in Turkey with the Air Force at the time, I had moved in with Gary after I lost my job, and my sister was office managing his businesses. Everything seemed to stop but the world didn’t and neither did the cancer. My sister and I did whatever we could while Grant was deployed to get him to doctor’s appointments, take new medications, get proper health insurance, find the right treatment, and fight for a cure. He had brain surgery in January 2018 where they did a biopsy removed a golf ball sized mass to be tested. Shortly after, it was confirmed to be stage 4 brain cancer. There was no cure for this illness. There is no cure.

He was given 22 months, chemotherapy, and proton therapy radiation. Brain tumor growth stalled after surgery and during treatment but once his treatment ended it came back and was growing more aggressively than before. There was nothing left to be done and nothing left to try. We did not want to give up. He didn't either.
Today, Gary is in palliative care at home and surrounded by his son, daughters, sister, and caregivers as he requested. We, Gary’s family, are asking for your help. Our family has attempted to do all of this on our own. We have exhausted many credit cards and resources to care for him and now we need to reach out to all of you to help us, to help Gary go in peace.
As a business owner, Gary did everything himself. Now that he is no longer able to work, all his modes of income have halted but the bills still need to be paid. In addition to medical costs and care, this has landed on our family as well and we are struggling to keep his mortgages, loans, and businesses afloat.
Each one of us has learned so many things about this fight and how it affects our whole family in every way. It’s impossible to handle this and to watch a loved one fade away. It feels impossible to say goodbye. Our grief began on Nov 6th and continues as this journey moves forward.
Your support would mean the world to us and to Gary. Help us give him the very best care and the very best memorial service that he deserves.
What we need: - 24-hour in-home care services - Food supplies - Mortgage & utilities - Funeral services - Internment costs
ANYTHING WILL HELP.
Thank you for your generosity. Even sharing this campaign on Facebook and social media can help spread the word. God bless!
Sincerely,
Alexandria & Grant, Danielle, Barbara, Angie
