Corrinne’s Celebration of Life

Hi everyone my name is Ashley Holcombe and I have had the pleasure of knowing the Alston family since 2009 when I quickly became best friends with Jasmine, the middle daughter in the family.

In 2009, Jasmine and her siblings suffered the immense loss of their father after he was diagnosed with- and bravely fought cancer. Her mother, Corrinne, finding herself as a single mother and grieving the loss of her husband, became extremely close with her three daughters. She worked hard as a bus driver in Pembroke to provide for them and was able to keep her family in the home they knew and loved in Marshfield.

Flash forward to today- Jasmine and her siblings are faced with yet another parent diagnosed with cancer. Corrinne was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in March of 2022 and she has fought courageously for over two years having gone through multiple rounds of chemotherapy. She was in remission for a short period of time until she got the news that the cancer was growing again in October 2023 and ultimately started at home hospice care in June of 2024.

She is now in the late stages of fighting this horrible disease where Jasmine and her sister, Jillian are working hard to ensure that she has the best care possible while trying to keep up with the financial responsibilities they’ve been left with. Thankfully, they do qualify for Massachusetts PFMLA so they’re able to be present with Corrinne as her primary caretakers. However, this won’t even begin to cover the financial hardship of medical bills, mortgage payments, and end of life care as they help Corrinne stay as comfortable as possible through this heartbreaking time.

I’m organizing this fundraiser in an effort to show the Alston girls that the community is here for them and that they’re not alone. All funds raised will go directly towards medical bills, end of life care, mortgage payments, and other outstanding bills Corrinne has accumulated during her time battling cancer.

Every dollar helps ease the burden and financial strain of the realities they are facing.
