Hello everyone! My name is Robin Davidson. My cousin, Carla Dowdy (Nicky), suffered a massive stroke, and I’m trying to help raise money for her family. The money raised will be used to pay for hotel stays, gas, and other medical bills not covered by insurance. Here’s more information about Carla:

What started out as a normal day quickly turned into a tragic, life changing event for the Dowdy family. On December 16, 2021, Carla was changing her 8 month old granddaughter, Ellyson Claire. Suddenly, without warning, Carla collapsed and fell to the floor. Carla’s husband, Jim, soon discovered and immediately called 911.

Carla was taken to Poplar Bluff where they unsuccessfully attempted procedure(s) to dissolve and remove the blood clot in her brain. She was then transported by ambulance to St. Clare in Fenton, MO. Weather conditions prohibited air transport.

Carla suffered a severe Ischaemic stroke located in the left hemisphere of her brain. Doctors were unsuccessful in removing the blood clot, and she remains in the hospital.

Carla is a fighter, a mother, a wife, a grandmother, a daughter, a sister, a niece, an aunt, a cousin, and a friend to SO many. We know that the outpouring of prayers have kept her alive. We’ve witnessed a miracle, but Carla’s fight is not over. It has only just begun. Carla is able to respond to commands in the form of hand and body movements on the left side of her body. We’re hopeful that her right side will “wake up.”. Ventilator has been removed. Feeding tube still in place. She’s not able to speak yet, but boy what we wouldn’t give to hear her mouthy sassy voice!

Carla has spent her entire life in the field of nursing. She deserves to have the best care given right back to her.
