Help Pat & Sheila with Medical & Housing Expenses

Donation protected

In December 2021, Pat was diagnosed with AML - Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Within weeks he went from a mild case to an aggressive case of Leukemia.
He was put on three rounds of chemo and we were given the news that he was in remission.
Our prayers were answered, Pat was going to be ok. Well, Within a few days Pat got very sick and was almost taken from us far too soon. Pat was taken to SCCA - Seattle Cancer Center in Seattle, After many weeks In the hospital and uncounted tests we found out that he was in fact, NOT in remission. As a family I can say this was heartbreaking news. Pat was given a few options as far as a timeline of life. Although no option meant a cure. Pat decided he wasn’t ready to give up and had too much life left to spend with his family. Pat is and has always been a fighter and that’s what he was going to do. He chose to fight for himself, he chose to fight for his family, and he chose to fight this god awful disease.

This last year has been nothing but an uphill battle for Pat, Sheila and everyone sharing support. Pat & Sheila have spent countless hours in the car, countless hours in emergency rooms & hospital beds. They have spent many days which often turned into weeks in different hospitals. As of today Pat has been through 5 different rounds of chemo. And we can happily say he is in remission. Although remission is the answer we all want, Pats battle is not even close to over yet. He has been given a clean bill of health and is in line for a Bone Marrow Transplant. He even has a donor lined up.

Pat is on the transplant path, which also means Pats Leukemia battle will never be over. Currently in order to continue being eligible for the transplant Pat & Sheila will need to move to Seattle full time for the next 4 months and Pat will continue having medical bills come in. Pat needs to visit multiple doctors for various testing, and he needs dental work done to keep him on the journey of transplant eligibility.

Since Pat was diagnosed there have been unexpected medical bills piling up. Sheila has applied for all kinds of grants to help pay for these Medical bills and although we are blessed to have the help we have had it doesn’t add up to enough. Sheila even had to quit her job so she can be Pats 24/7 caregiver. Pat & Sheila are spending more money on fuel costs, food costs, travel expenses, hotel costs, medical bills and much more. We are asking for support because as Pat continues down this journey they are now required to live in Seattle, as they need to live close to SCCA to continue with every other day blood work, misc testing, and simply in case of an emergency. Insurance has declined housing reimbursement and now Pat & Sheila are expected to pay for all costs out of pocket.

With more unexpected medical bills, transportation costs, and now having to pay rent for two homes coming. Pat & Sheila have exhausted all options as far as financial relief. No dollar amount will be too much for giving Pat extra time on this earth, that’s why we are looking for support from any and all willing and able to help. We need and want Pat & Sheila to continue focusing on the journey of recovery, not worrying about how they will pay for all of this.

If you have had the opportunity for Pat & Sheila to cross your path you know that means that asking for help is a very last resort for them. Pat & Sheila have always gone above and beyond for others, they put family, friends, and even strangers well being before their own. They do that just purely out of the kindness of their hearts, never asking or expecting anything in return. If you know Pat & Sheila you know how special they are to us all. We have now reached a point on the road to recovery that we are looking for anything anyone can help with. We are also asking for good vibes, thoughts and prayers for better things ahead. We are so thankful for all the people in our lives and we are hoping to continue creating memories with each and everyone of you.
Thank you. We love you all.
