Hi, My name is Emma Michaels and I am asking for you to help me raise money towards a reward for information towards the arrest of the person who killed my beautiful and very loved emotional support dog ‘Nylah’ on the 13th December 2024. She was involved in a very brutal and tragic hit and run at approximately 2am nearby our home on Manor Park SE13
Some you may be familiar with my story as it generated a lot of feedback and support when I posted about it on my local Facebook group SE6 SE13 Lewisham and Catford Just after the incident took place. You are welcome to take a look at it on there or on my Facebook page Emma Michaels.
The incident was reported to the police immediately and they are investigating it as a hit and run. Although I have been informed that they are taking the incident very seriously, almost a month later I have not received any information about a arrest or how the investigation has progressed.
Unfortunately I have had to make a official complaint to the Lewisham police as I was left on my own at 2am with my 40kg Cane Corso lying dead and bleeding outside the Nursery School and advised to go home and call my local vet.
As I was physically unable to move her myself I had little choice but to do so.
My local vet was furious that I had been advised by police to do so and as they had no means to help themselves they made numerous calls to the local authority, RSPCA and police but to no avail.
Fortunately some friends arrived and wrapped Nylah in a blanket and brought her back home.
it wasn’t until later that morning I was given the number of a local animal taxi who came and placed Nylah in a plastic sack and took her 3min ride to the veterinary surgery where she was registered.
Already in such trauma and shock I had to ask a member of the public to assist me in carrying her inside the vets and placing her in the freezer!
Im sure that whether you are a animal owner or not you can empathise how awful and tragic this situation has been and how there is definitely a need for the person who not only failed to stop that day but proceeded to drag her screaming two car lengths, be brought to justice.
Hence I am appealing for people to make donations towards a reward for information leading to a arrest and conviction and that a message is sent out to everyone that this should never happen again.
I also want to set up a service that will assist pet owners in the future who find themselves in a situation like or similar to this.
Had my friends not come and moved her or helped pay to have her body removed how more difficult the situation would have been. Also no one, especially having witnessed such trauma, should have to carry their beloved pet in a plastic bag and place them in a freezer.
i want her death to not be in vain and no other pet owner to have to go through this situation.
Please, give whatever you can afford and let’s insure this menace is brought to justice and pet owners are protected from this cruelty in the future.
Kind regards
Emma Michaels
