Zoe Chetty's American Dream

My name is Zoe Chetty and I am a South African exchange student in Austin, TX. I have always dreamed about seeing the world and one day someone recommended that I apply for a scholarship to attend a school in the United States. I am enjoying my time in America but knowing that my time here is limited drives me to want to make the very most out of this opportunity. I have participated in as many activities as possible such as dance, choir and Lacrosse and have worked very hard at school but I still feel that there is more that I can do to experince the different American cultures. My exchange program provides optional trips to travel and see the U.S.. I was excited to hear this but when I saw the prices I knew that my natural family in South Africa would not be able to afford it. The dollar is 12 times stronger than the rand (South African currency). I really want to travel America while I'm in America because since I am already here it won't be as expensive as it would be if I were to travel all the way from South Africa and I don't know when I will be able to afford to come back one day.  The trip I would love to go on is the 2 week East Coast trip around America because it will allow me to travel to different parts of America. The trip is on June 5 so I hope that I will be able to raise enough money by mid-May to May 30. I will be visiting Disney Land, Niagara Falls and New York.  The money for the trip includes city tours, breakfast and dinner every day, transportation, a t-shirt, tickets to varies tourist sites ( Like the Statue of Liberty, Magic Kingdom, The Empire State Building) and much more. I am truly excited!
