Help Tina Recover from Devastating Accident
Donation protected
So on March 4 my best friend Tina Grondell, that many of you know and love, was plowed down by a drunk driver and hospitalized for 24 days. It took the jaws of life to remove her from her vehicle after this horrific crime was committed against her! She recently returned home but has been left in dire straits. She is in a wheelchair and obviously hasn’t worked for over a month. She was so severely injured that she had eight or nine different surgical procedures over the first few days and then an additional major surgery just a few days prior to her release. Her list of injuries include a brain bleed, fractured neck and back, all of her ribs were broken and had to be surgically plated. She had her spleen and a portion of her stomach removed. She broke her tibia and kneecap and had to have those surgically repaired. (Editing today because I forgot to originally list that she also punctured a lung, which led to it collapsing and a drain had to be inserted for it to function!)
She really should not even have been released to home by the hospital, in my opinion, but transferred to a physical therapy rehab center. It’s going to be a long time before any insurance or legal settlement takes place and we are asking for help! So far her medical bills stand at over $917,000 and they’re going to continue to go up. She will need medical transport assistance to even get to her outpatient appointments, which is going to be quite expensive.
We are trying to help Tina cover her rent and monthly bills while waiting for justice to be served and restitution made. The drunken driver has been arrested and we don’t know yet when his trial will be but we have been working with the district attorneys office.
Tina‘s landlord has been less than understanding under these disastrous circumstances, so this is where we find ourselves. I don’t want my friend to be asked to leave her home due to no fault of her own.
I’m asking from the bottom of my heart for any amount of help that you can spare for my dear friend Tina. This has been life-changing and I don’t want the stress of the expense of daily living added to her plate right now. I’m thanking you in advance for your generosity and caring hearts.
