Help SFT youth activists get to camp!

We’re a group of SFT youth chapter leaders, and we need your support to attend Action Camp this year. Cross Movement Action Camp is an intensive training program where young Tibetans gain unique skills in nonviolent action and grassroots organizing for the Tibetan cause. For one week, student activists, Tibetan community organizers, and seasoned human rights campaigners from around the world will join together to equip young activists with the tools to carry on the torch in the Tibetan Freedom Movement. We can't wait to be part of it!

About Us:

Sangye: My name is Sangye, and I’m the president of SFT Oslo. I founded this chapter from the ground up just a few months ago, and although we’re still new, in this short time, we’ve already made a lot of progress advancing the Tibetan cause. I’ve created and shared videos in Norwegian on important topics about the Tibetan cause–highlighting issues like the Musée Guimet’s erasure of Tibet, Pema Namkyi’s story, the importance of Tibetan Independence Day, and the campaign urging the Nepalese government not to host the Chinese-appointed Panchen Lama. I delivered a speech on Tibet and the importance of its people at the AUF (Arbeiderpartiets ungdomslag) Annual Meeting. I’ve also organized and participated in events like March 10th Tibetan Uprising Day, and a letter drop off at the Vietnamese Embassy condemning the death of Hungkar Dorje Rinpoche. I’ve also been able to raise awareness about the kidnapped Panchen Lama and on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s newest book. Currently, I just organized a workshop on grassroots organizing for the local Tibetan youth and allies here in Oslo.

Lakpel: My name is Lakpel, and I’m the Tibetan spokesperson of SFT France. As an active and executive member of SFT France, I feel very strongly about the Tibetan struggle and have dedicated myself to this cause. I've made several videos educating the public on key issues related to Tibet, done grassroots outreach at festivals and canvassing on the street. I’ve played a part in many direct actions, such as being in France, supporting and raising awareness for the banner drop against Xi Jinping, and another action in the Musée Guimet when we snuck into the museum to stand with a banner denouncing the erasure of the word “Tibet”. The workshop can give me the opportunity to learn and become a much better activist, and to show me other ways of taking action, as well as introducing me to other young people just as interested in the struggle for Tibet as I am.

Phuntsok: I absolutely loved going to the camp during last year, and one thing that struck me most was the human adventure I had in meeting so many people from all over the world who share the same cause, which is the fight for Tibet. What's more, the teaching I received there helped me enormously throughout the year in my activist involvement, both with SFT and outside SFT–from participating in a direct action inside Musée Guimet to raising awareness on social media. So I'd love to be part of this 2025 edition of the camp to develop even further and become a better SFT leader.

Action Camp is exactly the opportunity we’ve been waiting for–to expand our skillsets, and make our work back home even more impactful.

The camp takes place in Upstate NY, and as students and activists with limited financial resources at our disposal, we appreciate any support for funding this trip. Your generous donation will be a direct investment in the future of the Tibetan Freedom Movement.

We’ll evenly distribute the sum of these donations among the three of us towards our flights.
