Elias' Story

Patricia and Luis are from El Salvador, they met at school, but life took them on separate journeys for a short period.
As fate would have it, they reunited again in 2010 and after some years of dating, they got married in 2014.

Patricia got pregnant four months after the wedding which was a great joy for them. During her pregnancy, Patricia was considered to be at high-risk, but God helped her go through this difficult time.

All of the pregnancy check-ups seemed to be fine and everything was on track, however, baby Elias was born prematurely at 30 weeks via cesarean; Patricia was praying to God that her baby would breathe and cry. It was a moment of joy when she heard him cry at birth, but then something unbelievable happened,  the Neonatologist asked Patricia if she knew her son had congenital problems, unfortunately, she was never notified of this at any of the ultrasounds.

Elias was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenital, Bilateral Clubfoot, Fingers agenesis and Brachial Plexus paresis. Arthrogryposis means that joints are curved or crooked; multiple means that it affects more than one joint.

At this point, Luis and Patricia received a lot of support, love, and prayers from family and friends to endure this difficult process.

To guarantee Elías to have a good quality of life and overall independence and to be able to do daily activities such as bathing, eating, putting on his clothes, handwriting, walking and just be a kid, he's been doing occupational and physical therapy; but to accomplish his maximum potential,  he needs to go under:

* Feet surgeries.
* Upper limbs surgeries (hands and elbows).

Due to the complexity of the procedures, Elias' parents applied to a sponsor program at Shriners Children's Hospital of Northern California in March 2018, four months later our family received the most exciting news of our lives: Elias was accepted for treatment at Shriners Hospitals for Children. We are so thankful for this opportunity, and we praise The Lord for always helping us in this process.

As the campaign manager:
* I will personally buy airfare tickets for Elias and his parents, they will probably have to travel more than one time from El Salvador to Sacramento, California
* I will send them part of the funds via wire transfer just in case any situation occurs during their commute to the US
Once they are here in Sacramento, I will use the rest of the funds for the following:
* Food for them during the length of stay.
* Local transportation to/from the hospital.
* Hands and Feet Orthesis for Elias after recovery from surgeries which are made to fit as he grows up.

We need to raise this money as soon as possible to attend the appointment that is going to be set up when we confirm we are ready to travel.

God bless all the people helping Elias to accomplish this dream.
