Recover from Hurricane Ian

On September 29th, Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida, devastating many homes, including my mother's. Like many others at this time, we are assessing the damages and planning our recovery. Though we are more fortunate than our fellow Floridians further down south, we still sustained pretty significant damages due to flooding

That Dreadful Day

During that fateful day on Sept. 29th, 2022, the eyewall of Hurricane Ian parked itself on top of our house for close to 7 hours, with sustained windspeeds up to 130-140 mph and intense rain.

The exterior flooding reached as high as 3 feet, with the interior suffering roughly 2 feet of flooding. On the outside, we suffered significant damages such as a totaled car, roof damage, collapsed fencing, destroyed sheds, and priceless items that were held in storage. On the interior, the flooding has effectively destroyed most of our furniture (Sofas, chairs, beds, drawers), clothes, objects of sentimental & significant value (family heirlooms, Electronics, and documents) and many other damages that we are still assessing.

Who I am and Who this is for

My name is Alexander Rosas, son of Cynthia Alejandro Rosas. I was currently studying for my Masters as this Hurricane was going on. We've been in constant contact, trying to create game plans so that we can rebuild the place we call home. I've been proactive in telling her story and gathering any private donations she would need to recover. This GoFundMe is meant for my mother. She will work tirelessly with family and friends to clean up and rebuild what was lost.

We estimated roughly $8,000 of damages based on what we can see, with the bulk of the costs stemming from exterior damages such as damages (fencing and storage shed), our car, and our furniture. There may be more damage as we get better assessments.

These donations will be sent directly to my mother.
