Hello friends!

My name is Eric Oberhausen, and the woman you see in the picture is my lovely wife, Ericka. GOD has blessed me with such an amazing woman, and with two children of our own, for which we are sooo thankful. Is that everything? I think so... Oh yeah! We are also profoundly deaf. A Deaf couple with the same names Eric and Ericka. Who would have a'thunk it lol? God is good, that's for sure!

We recently moved down here to Costa Rica from California, and we are involved in ministry here at a local Deaf Church by the name of Iglesia Kukobalewa El Shaddai, led by a Deaf pastor, right in the belly of the province of San Jose.

We, as a Deaf Church, are very community-oriented, hard-working, passionate, and open to the ideas and suggestions of the members of our Church. Our goal and mission is to make everyone feel involved - to feel a part of the community, and to feel loved and welcome. We are very active in making sure the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ gets to the Deaf people. We believe in loving GOD first and foremost with our entire beings, and loving our neighbors as ourselves. That goes for both the Deaf and Hearing people. GOD however, has commissioned us with reaching out to a very specific group of people, namely, the Deaf.

I am in charge of the video ministry, and our goal is to collect funds ($1,500) to buy the Canon HF G30 High-end Consumer Camcorder ($1,200), plus shipping costs, plus the 30%-50% tax withdrawal on electronic devices coming here into Costa Rica via shipping ($300 in taxes for this camcorder). This is so that we can create resources to put on YouTube. Our desire is to create lasting resources in Costa Rican Sign Language for the Deaf to use at their disposal, whenever they want it, wherever they need it. What we would like to do is create a video that captures the heart and soul of the Deaf people here (with subtitles of course), and to upload it digitally for all to see.
