Baby Roo

Roo just turned 7 months old last week and has been battling extreme sickness for the better half of her life.  When she had just turned 4 months old she was running around like a normal puppy one night and was paralyzed the next morning.. this resulted in weeks of sleepless nights, extreme pain, traveling between the emergency and our vets for multiple tests and multiple specialists. In the end they finally diagnosed her with HOD which is a fairly rare bone disease but she also had many more complications. Roo was put on a very high dose of steroids and pain medication and luckily responded well and spent the next month and a half recovering and fighting to get herself back to a normal life. She had just recently reached that point and was so full of life!! This weekend she went down hill very fast. She is in the critical care unit at OVC her HOD returned this time with pneumonia and many more complications. Right now Roo is fighting for her life.. the doctors are at a stand still and can not figure out what more is wrong but believe her HOD and pneumonia are secondary problems to something much bigger. Tomorrow morning Roo will be going under anesthetic to have a few more invasive tests done.. she is a very high risk patient to undergo anesthesia as she has pneumonia and her neurological status isn’t the best right now.. it is not certain that she will make it out of all these tests but it is our last option and she deserves every possible chance at continuing her life for as long as possible with her family. Roo has changed my life and many more, everyone she meets she brightens their day, this dog isn’t just a dog she has something so special about her that everyone who has met her has had the privilege of witnessing. She is a fighter!! And we can only pray she has enough fight left in her to come out of all of this. We have been very fortune to have pet insurance along the way but that only goes so far and after the tests tomorrow we have surpassed our limit. If Roo makes it out of the tests hopefully with a diagnoses or to continue her current treatment either way she will be stuck there for quite some time in the critical care unit. Any little bit helps! I know these times are hard for everyone and would never expect a cent but if your able to it is more than appreciated and will go towards Roos stay and more tests or treatments if needed. Thank you so much to everyone who has followed her journey and I pray this won’t be the end.
