Hola, mi nombre es Yamilet Vieira y estoy recaudando fondos para mi hermano Leonardo que reside en Venezuela. En el mes de junio del pasado año 2022, le fue practicada una cirugía (Craneotomía por Exterotaxia) para extirparle un tumor cerebral. Con dicha cirugía solo se realizó la resección parcial del tumor, debido a su naturaleza y a la zona donde estaba localizado (región frontoparietal derecha). Inmediatamente comenzó un tratamiento de 30 sesiones de Radioterapia y la toma oral mensual de Quimioterapia (Temozolamida) que mantiene hasta los momentos.

Desde entonces, ha estado acudiendo a los controles médicos con regularidad, realizando exámenes de laboratorio y los diferentes estudios de imagenología requeridos, además de cumplir los tratamientos a cabalidad, con lo que había podido mantener una condición de salud con los altibajos propios de la enfermedad; sin embargo, el pasado mes de septiembre comenzó a presentar crisis convulsivas que fueron evolucionando en intensidad y duración, que le afectaron la movilidad de la parte izquierda de su cuerpo, por lo que tuvo que ser hospitalizado de emergencia para recibir atención médica especializada. En Tomografía de Cráneo realizada en ese entonces, se diagnosticó un foco hemorrágico en la lesión tumoral y la consecuente inflamación del cerebro, como causa de tales crisis convulsivas.

Con el tratamiento médico indicado y las terapias de rehabilitación física, mi hermano estaba logrando recuperarse de manera progresiva, pero nuevamente en el mes de noviembre tuvo que ser hospitalizado con episodios de convulsiones continuos y recurrentes que lo han dejado limitado y debilitado para realizar movimientos voluntarios con su miembro superior e inferior izquierdo. En Resonancia Magnética Nuclear del cerebro realizada recientemente, se le ha diagnosticado recidiva o recurrencia tumoral y la aparición de otra masa de similares características en el lóbulo parietal derecho.

Como consecuencia de todo esto, mi hermano actualmente solo puede estar tumbado, sentarse con ayuda y ponerse de pie con apoyo, pero sin poder caminar, lo que implica el uso de silla de ruedas y andadera. También está siendo tratado con una gran variedad de medicamentos, algunos incluso que no se venden en Venezuela y debo enviárselos desde España; además de realizar terapias de rehabilitación física.

Para poder cumplir con todo este proceso de tratamiento del estado actual de salud de mi hermano, se requiere de altísimas cantidades de dinero del que no disponemos, ya que se han agotado los recursos de la póliza de salud, los propios y los de la familia y amigos cercanos que tan desinteresadamente lo han estado auxiliando. Por tal motivo, a través de esta campaña necesito ayudarlo a recaudar los fondos que tanto necesita en estos momentos críticos, para asumir los gastos que implica la compra de medicinas, pago de consultas médicas, exámenes de laboratorio, estudios de imágenes, terapia y rehabilitación física, compra de equipos de movilidad, gastos de traslado y pagos de servicio de ambulancia y hospitalización por alguna emergencia.

HELP MY BROTHER FIGHT CANCER

Hello, my name is Yamilet Vieira and I am raising funds for my brother Leonardo who lives in Venezuela. In June 2022, he underwent surgery (Exterotaxy Craniotomy) to remove a brain tumour. This surgery only partially resected the tumour, due to its nature and the area where it was located (right frontoparietal region). He immediately began treatment with 30 sessions of radiotherapy and monthly oral chemotherapy (Temozolamide), which he continues to receive to this day.

Since then, he has been attending medical check-ups regularly, undergoing laboratory tests and the various imaging studies required, in addition to complying with the treatments in full, which had enabled him to maintain his health condition with the ups and downs of the disease; however, last September he began to have seizures that evolved in intensity and duration, which affected the mobility of the left side of his body, so he had to be hospitalized on an emergency basis to receive specialized medical care. A cranial tomography performed at that time diagnosed a hemorrhagic focus in the tumour lesion and the consequent inflammation of the brain as the cause of the convulsive crises.

With the indicated medical treatment and physical rehabilitation therapies, my brother was progressively recovering, but again in November he had to be hospitalized with continuous and recurrent episodes of convulsions that have left him limited and weakened to perform voluntary movements with his left upper and lower limb. In a recent Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the brain, he has been diagnosed with tumour recurrence and the appearance of another mass of similar characteristics in the right parietal lobe.

As a consequence of all this, my brother is currently only able to lie down, sit with help and stand with support, but he cannot walk, which implies the use of a wheelchair and a walker. He is also being treated with a wide variety of medicines, some of which are not even sold in Venezuela and I have to send them to him from Spain, as well as physical rehabilitation therapies.

To be able to carry out the whole process of treating my brother's current state of health, we need a huge amount of money that we do not have, as we have exhausted the resources of our health insurance policy, our own resources and those of our family and close friends who have been helping him so selflessly. For this reason, through this campaign I need to help him to raise the funds that he needs so much in these critical moments, to assume the expenses involved in the purchase of medicines, payment of medical consultations, laboratory tests, imaging studies, therapy and physical rehabilitation, purchase of mobility equipment, transfer expenses and payments for ambulance service and hospitalization for any emergency.
