My wonderful fiancé and love of my life, Alex (see image), was battling sarcoma after a diagnosis in April 2023. He fought so hard against this rare and aggressive disease, but unfortunately it took him from us suddenly and unexpectedly on 3rd February 2024. He was 32, larger than life, and taken from us far too soon.
In his name, my sister and I are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Sarcoma UK. They conduct vital research into treatment of soft tissue cancers and help GPs recognise the signs early, because a quick diagnosis is crucial.
Desmoplastic Small Cell Round Tumour (DSCRT) affects approx. 12 people a year in the UK, primarily young men under 30. Symptomatic only when the disease is advanced, quick diagnosis and treatment is SO important. Although it’s too late for Alex and our family, we hope that the funds we raise will help another family through the challenges that this aggressive disease brings.
On behalf of my sister, Imogen and myself, Aisha, thank you for supporting us on this challenge!
