Mowgli's Vet Bill

Donation protected
Hi.

My name is Abby and Mowgli was my best friend. He was my everything since the day I got him 5 years ago. He was a loving, caring, absolutely obsessive in love with every person he ever came in contact with. He was hands down the most entertaining dog, and the cuddles and comfort he provided were out of this world.

He turned 5 on February 12th. On Valentine's Day we both headed to Kelowna, B.C. for a couple of days to get out of the city and enjoy some time in the sun, sleep in, and adventure. We both deserved a little break. Never in a million years would I suspect what was about to happen.

The morning we were planning on leaving back home to Vancouver, I packed up the truck and let him sleep in. (As he has never been a morning dog). I called for him to come get in the truck and he didn't get up.
I went to go grab him and I noticed immediately that his skin had turned yellow.
I lifted him up and put him in the truck. He was getting sick, he was yellow and I was panicked.

We went to Fairfield Animal Hospital in Kelowna, and they took the best and most immediate attention to him.

He contracted a virus that completely took over his kidney, liver, and pancreas in a matter of 24 hours. As incredibly strong and a fighter my boy is, he lost his battle for his life on Saturday. It was one of the most traumatic 24 hours I've experienced.

After just over 24 hours of emergency treatment and hospital stay, I had to make the most difficult decision of my life. He wasn't going to recover from the damage the virus had caused so quickly.

He had a blood and plasma transfusion, radiology, blood and urine work, IV fluids, emergency hospitalization, medication, and unfortunately euthanization.

I've started this GoFundMe to help with the sky-high costs of veterinary care. It completely bled me dry and we weren't even able to be around the comfort of our home. I had to do everything I could to save him, and it still wasn't enough.

I rescued Mowgli when he was just 5 weeks old, and since then he has saved me, loved me, and impacted not only me immensely, but everyone else who had a chance to meet him. He was loved by absolutely everyone. He had a way of getting whatever he wanted by putting his ears back, his head down, and his beautiful dopey brown eyes looking back up at you.

I miss him so much. Every little bit will help with the stress of finances, and try to focus on getting back to a 'normal' life. The past couple of days of adjusting have been so hard and complicated. Any ease of stress would be greatly appreciated.

He was the best support system a girl could have. He was and always will be my best friend.

Mowgli Forever.
