Dax was recently diagnosed with Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the bladder. One week ago, the tumor was successfully removed  and he has recovered amazingly.  

 Today, Dax was climbing our stairs when there was a knock on the door and he suffered a complete tear of his left cranial cruciate which is like an ACL for humans.

We have pet insurance for situations like these, but our last surgery with Dax maxed us out. The surgery estimates are $4500-$5500. This time, it is completely out of pocket without any help from insurance.

I had just finished 12 years of straight sea duty in the Navy and for the first time in my career was getting stationed on shore duty in Millington, TN. This is when I got my best friend, Dax, almost 10 years ago. He was born on the day that I pulled in from my last deployment at sea. He attended my last Final Night as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and he lays by my recliner in my son's room and waits every night for me to finish rocking him to sleep. There isn't a better or more loyal pup.

I met Aley, my wife, at the Vet office where I used to take him. He is in our engagement, wedding and family photos. He has been by my side in all of my major life events. Nursing school, wedding ceremony, officer commissioning , Tripp's birth, and now through practitioner school. He was pretty much the start of a lot of the goodness that is now in my life and I can't imagine my life without him. 

Everything that gets donated will go directly towards his medical expenses and absolutely no where else.
