Help Rusty walk again

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Amanda and I’m fundraising for one of my dearest friends, Robin. Robin has a dachshund named Rusty, who’s just under four years old and was diagnosed in the last 24 hours with Stage 3 Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). IVDD can lead to permanent paralysis in severe cases. Rusty and his mom are headed to UC Davis to receive a Neuro Consult for possible spinal surgery following an emergent visit to the vet late last night. Robin returned home after working a 12 hour shift on the ambulance to find Rusty’s abdomen distended, which quickly progressed to what appeared to be paralysis in his back legs. After receiving no answers from the local emergency vet, she went to Rusty’s primary vet the following morning for further evaluation and a second opinion on his symptoms. Rusty’s vet urged that he be taken to UC Davis immediately, or could be at risk of being put down. Rusty is so full of personality and has been since he was a puppy. And don’t let his little legs fool you, he’s full of adventure and loves going on long hikes in Upper Park and floating on the lake with his mom to cool off from the summer heat. This loving little guy has helped his mom through good times and bad and deserves to continue a long, loving, thriving life. Robin has applied for Care Credit, but unfortunately it won’t be enough to cover the full prodcedure, as it can range anywhere from $5,000-$10,000 (not including the consult itself). I know Rusty’s family and friends would be eternally grateful for any amount of help they can get to help him walk again.
